Primary Spanish Guide

Ms. Carmen Gaxiola studied English at St. Louis University in St. Louis Missouri and earned a Degree in Education Administration from Anahuac University in Mexico City. She studied Montessori in 1999 at the Montessori Institute of San Diego (MISD) and has been an AMI Montessori Guide for over two decades.
Ms. Carmen was born in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico and as part of her commitment to children from a Montessori perspective, she and her sister started a Community Montessori project in Tijuana Mexico in 1996. They founded the Centro Comunitario Esperanza, AC in 2000 to provide quality Montessori education to children from 3 to 6 years old. Part of their mission was to establish solid ties to the community in order to make the project sustainable, for this purpose they provided Montessori Teacher Training to the women in the community. This project continued for ten years and was supported by Silvia Dubovoy (Director of MISD). Since founding the Centro Comunatrio in 2007, Carmen has worked extensively in Montessori schools in Tijuana and San Diego.
Ms. Carmen’s two children went to Montessori school as children. Her daughter recently became a Montessori Guide and now works in a Montessori school in Australia. She enjoys her time with the children she guides and feels that working with children is a blessing. Spending time talking to them and hearing their thoughts…they always have astonishing things to share! She feels that her work gives great meaning to her life.
In her free time, Ms. Carmen loves spending time with her family, making art, reading, taking care of plants, and making Montessori materials.
