Teaching Aide Extended Day Program (Part-Time)
La Jolla Montessori School is growing!
We are seeking positive, mature and supportive staff members to work as Part-Time Aides to support our afternoon extended care staff. Our afternoon program is largely play-based. Children always have the option to engage in free play on the playground (i.e. play with balls, ride tricycles, use the climbing structures). Aftercare teachers take turns organizing art / craft activities for the children, may need to assist children who have toileting accidents, and support keeping the aftercare environment safe and clean.
Teaching Aide duties may include:
- Assisting with Afternoon nap / Dismissal
- Preparing Snack
- Visual Supervision of the Children on the Playground
- Assisting with arts and crafts activities
- Assist children in changing their clothes after a toileting accident.
- Assisting with keeping the environment safe and clean
- Support with Dismissal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- Experience working with young children
- A flexible, helpful and engaging attitude
- Willingness to support potty training
- Willingness to enroll in 12 credit hours of early childhood courses (required by licensing)
- Willingness to submit to a background check (required by licensing)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.A. and experience with young children either toddlers (18 months – 3 years old) or Primary aged (3-6yrs)
- Full or Partial Completion of the 12 Early Childhood Education units required by licensing:
- Child Development-3 units
- Family, Child and Community-3 units
- Infant/Toddler Class- 3 units
- 1 Curriculum classes, your choice-3 units
